Polish about Iraq and Afghanistan
About such books I would like to write long time ago. But in comparison to so many English books about modern conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, often memories of the soldiers participants of it, similar books here in Poland are very rare. It is good that in the end somebody decided to publish it.
#1 “From Afghanistan.pl The alphabet of the Polish Deployment” by Marcin Ogrodzki. It is the freshest from those I am writing about. It was created as an effect of idea about the blog from Afghanistan. Please look directly on the page: http://zafganistanu.pl/ . There are a lot of photographes in the book and the lot of stories told around separate entries: a as ajdik (IED), b as Bagram etc. You absolutely have to read this book.
#2 “Afghanistan. I’ve touched the War” by Piotr Langenfeld. Memories of Polish journalist who was permitted to stay in Afghanistan and accompany to US Army units. Longer then 15 minutes :). As the Author writes it is the book about Afghanistan in 2009 in soldier’s view.#3 - #4 Both books are extraordinary. Published (in editions of 1000 copies “The come back to Iraq” and 3000 copies “Iraqi notes”) by Associations of soldiers, former soldiers and Army employees with the help of Polish Ministry of Defence. Both are more… official, dry – maybe military is better word. But still, in my opinion, interesting.
